Which Grey Composite Decking is Best for You?

Much like trying to choose a paint color, deciding on a decking color that perfectly captures the style and design you envision can be one of the most exciting and difficult choices throughout the entire project.

Once you know the general color family you like, the next decision is whether you want something that incorporates multiple shades, a single solid color, or somewhere in between.

We break our composite decking colors down into four families – Brown, Blonde, Red, and Grey. Grey is what we’ll dig in to in this post.

Grey Composite Decking options

So, you’ve decided that you love grey for your deck. It’s a diverse color palette that works well with both soft, neutral colors or bright, bold colors.

You can see examples of both in our Style & Elements Guide.

But what’s really going to speak to your design style and help create the outdoor environment you crave?

Let’s walk through each grey composite decking option we offer.

Distinction Grey Wood

The Distinction Collection features the widest range of colors and highlights within each board. It’s even been described by some as having a ‘dramatic’ color mix. If you’re looking for a color mix resembling the patterns found in exotic woods, then Distinction is for you.

Grey Wood features multiple shades and highlights within the grey family, from dark to light, which makes it very diverse across many design styles.

Expression Harbor Grey

The Expression Collection is comprised of a range of bold, solid colors that give the appearance of a freshly painted deck.

Harbor Grey is a medium-grey tone that accents nearly any color home beautifully. Pair with soft, natural tones to create a relaxing and inviting environment. Harbor Grey also works very well as an accent to Grey Wood as a picture frame around your deck, or to create defined spaces within your deck.

Ridge Premium Gunstock & Alpine Fog

Ridge Premium is our budget friendly composite decking collection. The fluted profile bottom is a way for us to reduce manufacturing costs while still maintaining the strength and durability our customers expect. Featuring softly blended colors, Ridge Premium is a great alternative to pressure treated lumber as the lifetime cost is less when considering time and materials for the necessary ongoing maintenance of lumber.

Gunstock features a subtle blend of grey tones which create an overall cool grey color. It’s unique color blend and appearance pairs well with a bright and bold palette, ensuring the colors pop in contrast with the decking.

Alpine Fog is the lightest grey out of all the Envision collections. The silver tones blended in this board help achieve this truly unique color that will not only stand out but compliment any outdoor living deck design.

EverGrain Cape Cod Grey

EverGrain is our classic, uncapped decking – meaning it doesn’t have a hard shell on it – and has been a staple for more than 20 years. That’s why all our capped composite decking collections are built on it – it’s performance is unmatched.

Cape Cod Grey is a light grey board that captures the essence of natural wood. Since it’s uncapped, EverGrain boards typically weather to a lighter shade within the first several months of exposure to the environment, so you can expect Cape Cod Grey to become lighter after it’s been installed.

Grey composite decking is a great choice if you want a space that works with a wide range of colors and design styles – from tropical to rustic, or cottage to coastal.
